Governor Hochul Reveals Skin Cancer Diagnosis, Urges New Yorkers to Prioritize Health Screenings

New York Governor Kathy Hochul shared personal health news on Thursday, revealing she has been diagnosed with a form of skin cancer. During a statement, Hochul explained that a recent routine check-up led to the discovery of a Basal cell carcinoma on her nose.

"A few weeks ago, during a routine examination, my doctor identified a Basal cell carcinoma—a tiny, tiny speck on my nose. It’s so small, you can’t even see it," Hochul said.

The governor is scheduled to undergo a minor removal procedure on Friday morning but reassured New Yorkers that she would be back to work immediately following the procedure. "I’ll have a bandage on my nose, but I’ll be right back to work," she added.

In her message, Hochul emphasized the importance of regular health screenings, encouraging everyone to prioritize their well-being by getting routine check-ups. "It’s always better to be safe. I urge all New Yorkers to take precautions and make regular doctor visits part of their health routine," she advised.

Her diagnosis serves as a reminder of the importance of early detection in addressing health concerns and underscores the governor’s ongoing commitment to lead by example.
