MIDDLEPORT, N.Y. – Two construction workers were rushed to ECMC, with one airlifted by Mercy Flight, after a serious crash in the Town of Royalton on Thursday afternoon.

According to the Niagara County Sheriff's Office, the incident occurred when a sedan traveling westbound on State Road veered off course and collided with a parked, unoccupied water tanker truck positioned on the shoulder. The impact didn’t stop there. The car continued, striking a construction worker who had been seated nearby in the grass.

The sedan then crashed into a second parked vehicle, causing another worker to be thrown onto the trailer’s floorboard before the car finally came to a halt.

The driver of the sedan emerged unscathed, but the two construction workers were transported to ECMC for treatment of neck and back injuries.

Authorities are still investigating the accident.
