New Scholarship Available for Therapeutic Horseback Riding at Windrush Farm
Windrush Farm in North Andover is offering a new Kathy Blanton Memorial scholarship for children and adults with disabilities. The scholarship is for participants over the age of six, with physical, cognitive or emotional challenges who qualify on financial need and consideration of circumstances. The scholarship was set up by Kathy’s sister, Cheryl Blanton, and is offered in memory of Kathy who loved riding and, especially, competing in the Special Olympics.

State Grants Subsidies and Credits for Affordable Housing Projects in Methuen and Lawrence
State Affordable Housing Development Grant Awards were granted last week for apartment construction projects in Methuen and Lawrence. The YWCA’s Ingalls Court Phase II in Methuen provides all 48 units of affordable, including 16 “deeply affordable” for households earning below 30% of area median income. Lawrence’s Marriner Mill 4A provides 72 all affordable units with 16 deeply affordable. Altogether, the state granted $227 million in state and federal tax credits and subsidies to create and preserve 1,874 rental units.

Bauer Financial Awards Pentucket Bank 5-Star Superior Rating for 129th Consecutive Quarter
This month marks 129 consecutive quarters that Pentucket Bank has received Bauer Financial’s 5-Star Superior Rating for financial strength and stability. The rating was assigned based on financial data as of March 21, and comes with the added prestige of being a “Best of Bauer Bank.” Banks must maintain their five-star rating for 100 consecutive quarters to receive this title.
Children at YMCA’s Camp Tricklin’ Falls Get Heat Reprieve Thanks to East Kingston Firefighters
The 300 children taking part in the Haverhill and Plaistow YMCA’s Camp Tricklin’ Falls and the 60 staff got a break from the heat at least for a little while last week. Continuing an annual tradition, the East Kingston, N.H., Fire Department sent a truck and firefighters last Thursday to spray campers and staff. They even accepted a return soaking with the fire truck’s hose from a few campers and staff.
