The council deemed the total for the project would not exceed $201,071."The ARPA funds are heavily restricted, there's not a whole lot of things you can spend them on,” said Vice Mayor of Wheeling Chad Thalman. “But one thing you can spend ARPA funds on is enhancing outdoor space."From the corner of Main Street to the corner of Market Street, The Vineyard Church's childcare services will stretch along the entire block of 10th Street. The Vineyard Church will renovate the already existing building, but the playground will need constructed. It's estimated that the center will service over 200 children."So, in the city of Wheeling there's a shortage of childcare centers,” said Thalman. “Parents tell me that they have to get on a waiting list about a year before they actually need a spot in a childcare center."The plans for the childcare center and playground not only will help the families enrolled in the services, but the playground will also be open to the public outside of regular business hours."Not only is this a brand new playground that can be used by any child, any family, in the city of Wheeling,” said Thalman. “This is also an economic development tool to allow a brand-new childcare to open up. And the childcare center will not only provide jobs, but it will also provide childcare for parents, who can then go and get a job and have childcare for their child while they're working."The new childcare services are just another step at caring for the future families of the Friendly City.</div></body>
