Make sure your firework of choice doesn’t fly, shoot, or explode into the air. If a firework doesn’t light on the first try it means it’s a dud and you need douse and safely dispose of it.

“Keep an extinguisher handy if something gets out of hand. We want to have a flat level, solid surface to discharge the fireworks from, we want to keep everyone a safe distance away. And again, we really want to keep children away from handling fireworks, the best advice is to leave it to the professionals.”

Deric Jamison, Wheeling Fire Department Assistant Chief

Jamison reminds us to be courteous to our neighbors this 4 th of July and if an emergency were to occur like an injury or fire, please call 911 for assistance.
