Firework safety tips that will spark your interest

WHEELING, W.Va. (WTRF) — There’s nothing more exciting than the colorful explosions that fill the night sky on the 4 ^th of July. For those who are bringing the firework display to their own backyard, there are a few safety tips you need to know.

When handling fireworks keep a bucket of water on hand to soak the fireworks after use.

Make sure your firework of choice doesn’t fly, shoot, or explode into the air. If a firework doesn’t light on the first try it means it’s a dud and you need douse and safely dispose of it.

“Keep an extinguisher handy if something gets out of hand. We want to have a flat level, solid surface to discharge the fireworks from, we want to keep everyone a safe distance away. And again, we really want to keep children away from handling fireworks, the best advice is to leave it to the professionals.”
