WHEELING, W.Va. (WTRF)– The Wheeling Miners are just a game shy of completing a perfect season in their inaugural year. Which game is that? The AAL2 Championship Game.

They will face the Peach State Cats from Georgia at home in that game, Saturday at 7 p.m..

The big news for the Miners is League MVP Grant Russell returning to action, after he missed the previous playoff game for his honeymoon. With their starting quarterback on the field, Wheeling averaged 55 points per game.

Regardless of Saturday’s outcome, it will be the last game the Miners play in the AAL2. They announced in June that they will upgrade to the National Arena League (NAL) next season, which is known to be more competitive.
