July 4th celebrations continue at Wheeling Island Independence Day Fun Festival

WHEELING, W.Va. (WTRF) — The 4th of July celebrations are continuing today in the Friendly City with family fun for everyone!

The Wheeling Island Hotel-Casino-Racetrack is hosting its first-ever Wheeling Island Independence Day Fun Festival today outside of the casino.

The event is completely free for anyone to attend and includes, inflatable rides and carnival games, food trucks, live music, and a beer garden.

Several vendors are also set up at the event with some fun prizes that you can win.

The Director of Marketing for the casino, says the event is a great way to invite all ages out to celebrate the holiday with everyone.

“This is our opportunity. The casino is 21 and older. This is our opportunity to open it up to everybody. So having it outside is really our only way to do it for, you know, freely. So we we put this outside so we can bring them here, so everybody can see that Wheeling Island is not just a adults playground, it’s a kids playground, too. You can come and have some fun right out here.”

Festivities will continue until 10 pm tonight with a fireworks show starting around 9:30 pm.
