WHEELING, W.Va. ( WTRF ) — Have you ever seen a floating circus? If you haven’t, you’re about to have your chance.

Flotsam River Circus is bringing its tour to the Ohio Valley this summer.

Flotsam River Circus is a troupe of musicians, circus artists, and puppeteers traveling on a handmade raft, giving free performances in riverfront towns along the way.

The show is kid-friendly but meant for all ages and is completely free.

Spy gadget store opens in Morgantown

The floating circus will be in the Ohio Valley on the following dates:

    • Aug. 20 – East Liverpool, OH
    • Aug. 21 – Steubenville, OH
    • Aug. 22 – Wheeling, WV
    • Aug. 23 – New Martinsville, WV

The Steubenville date has not been removed from the tour list but as of Tuesday Steubenville City Council will not let the Circus dock at the marina or anywhere else in town, according to the Herald-Star .

Performance starts at 6 p.m. and should be done by 7:30 p.m.

Flotsam said it is a non-profit and needs donations to keep the project afloat.

In addition to funding, there are a number of specific items they are looking for this year:

    • An electric sewing machine
    • A couple of decent working bicycles
    • A functional tuba
    • Drum throne
    • Marching snare drum
    • Some sort of small camper vehicle that we could borrow for the tour, like a camper van or truck with a slide-in camper
