Augusta Levy Learning Center announces new parent support groups

WHEELING, W.Va. (WTRF) — The Augusta Levy Learning Center is getting ready to start a new program that won’t only help kids, but their entire families here in the Ohio Valley.

In just one week, the Augusta Levy Learning Center will begin its brand-new Circle of Parents Support Groups in partnership with WVU’s Center for Excellence in Disabilities.

The new program is designed for parents and families of children who have special health care needs or disabilities.

At the meetings, groups will discuss the challenges and successes they have experienced while parenting kids who deal with mental or physical disabilities.

”That is something that we’re so excited about, really branching out and being able to support not just the children that we serve here in the center, but their entire family, because we recognize that the entire family is affected through an autism diagnosis and being able to help them, it’s just, it’s an amazing thing.”

The meetings are all open to the public with childcare available at each one. The first meeting will be held next Tuesday, July 16th at 2:30 pm and then every 3rd Tuesday of the month after that at the same time.
