Schults Ford and YMCA team up for Back-to-School Backpack and Supplies Giveaway

OHIO COUNTY, W.Va. (WTRF) — With the summer months flying by, kids will be headed back to school before we know it.

Now one local business is asking for your help to make sure area students have what they need for a successful school year.

Shults Ford next to Highlands is teaming with the Wheeling YMCA to host their first ever backpack and school supplies giveaway.

It will take place Friday, August 2nd, from 10 a.m. until 4.

They are inviting everyone come out and drop off a new or slightly used backpack or any type school supplies.

Those items will then be distributed to Wheeling area schools through the YMCA.

They are off to a great start with a donation of 100 backpacks from Walmart at the Highlands.

As part of our 1st year, we are trying to give back to the community, be part of the community, and fulfill the community’s needs. This was a big one. This touches us deeply. Started, initiated by Shelly and Kim from Walmart, we have wonderful sponsors, wonderful people associated with this.”

Everyone who donates a backpack will be entered in a drawing to win a jersey autographed by Pittsburgh Penguin defenseman Kris Letang.
