At least one person is dead after a crash involving a semi-truck in Clark County Friday evening, Ohio State Highway Patrol Sergeant J-Von Humphreys said.

As reported on News Center 7 at 11, the crash happened around 6 p.m. in the 6000 block of E National Road, near the I-70 and US-40 interchange.

“A semi going west on 70 exited off the 40 and the vehicle struck a yield sign, went off the right side of the road then struck a tree line,” Humphreys said.

The driver of the semi-trailer, identified by state troopers as William Holler, 63, of Springfield, was pronounced dead on the scene.

Troopers shut down part of East National Road for hours as they investigated.

The semi was the only vehicle involved in the crash, according to OSP.

Tow trucks showed up around 9 p.m. to try and get the semi out of the wooded area, and continued their efforts for over three hours.

We are working to learn the identity of the person who died in the crash.

We will continue to follow this story.
