1 dead, 2 seriously injured after crash in Greene County

One person is dead and two people are seriously injured after a crash in Greene County Saturday evening, an Ohio State Highway Patrol spokesperson said.

The crash happened at approximately 6:40 p.m. at the intersection of Richland Road and U.S. 42 in Spring Valley Township.

A preliminary investigation found that a Toyota and a Honda collided in the intersection, the spokesperson said.

At the time of the crash, the Toyota, driven by a 69-year-old Dayton woman, was traveling east on Richland Road and approaching the intersection.

The Honda, driven by a 20-year-old Xenia woman, was traveling north on U.S. 42, according to the spokesperson.

The 69-year-old driver didn’t yield to the oncoming Honda and was struck.

Sandra Bernal, 70, of Dayton, was a passenger in the Toyota. She died on scene from her injuries, the spokesperson said.

Medics transported the 69-year-old woman to Miami Valley Hospital with serious, life-threatening injuries.

The 20-year-old woman was transported to Miami Valley Hospital with serious, non-life-threatening injuries.

This crash remains under investigation by the OSHP Xenia Post.
