29-year-old dead after crash on I-75 SB in Shelby Co.

A 29-year-old is dead after a crash on I-75 in Shelby County Friday morning.

As News Center 7 previously reported, around 7 a.m. Ohio State Highway Patrol was called to a crash on I-75 southbound just north of the Fair Road Exit.

An initial investigation found a 2019 Ford Transit, driven by Damien Webb, 29, Cardington, was traveling south of I-75 just north of the Fair Road exit when they hit the back of a 2013 Freightliner tractor-trailer driven by Irwin Hatfield, 69, of Anna.

The Freightliner had stopped due to traffic from a separate serious injury crash earlier in the morning, according to OSP.

After crashing into the Freightliner, Webb was thrown from their car.

Webb died from their injuries.

Hatfield said they were not hurt.

The crash remains under investigation.
