UPDATE: 1 dead after hit-and-run in Dayton

One person is dead after a crash in Dayton Wednesday morning.

As previously reported on News Center 7 Daybreak, Dayton Police and medics responded at around 3:20 a.m. to the intersection of Stanley Avenue and Webster Street on reports of a crash.

The crash happened after a vehicle ran a red light at a high rate of speed, a spokesperson for Dayton Police confirmed.

One person, a female, died in the crash. Her identity has not been released at this time.

Police confirmed the at-fault driver ran from the scene after the crash.

The intersection was closed for over two hours before reopening around 6 a.m.

Video and pictures show the intersection blocked off and two cars suffered heavy damage.
