Dayton Police released a video on Tuesday showing two men, who had gotten out of a white BMW SUV, force their way into a home in the 100 block of Grove Avenue on Oct. 6. From there, police said they held the people inside at gunpoint.

“The residents of the home were not harmed physically and are still unsure why they were targeted,” police shared on social media on Tuesday.

News Center 7 went to the neighborhood where this happened on Wednesday. As shown on News Center 7 at 5:00 , it was immediately clear that though the residents weren’t hurt physically, the attack took a toll.

Our team reported seeing a U-Haul truck at the home where the invasion happened.

The residents didn’t want to speak about the attack but confirmed to News Center 7 that they were moving out. They also revealed that their two small children were home and terrified by having weapons pointed at them.

The home invasion was a huge departure from the normally quiet streets, one neighborhood resident said. She also told News Center 7 that no one should have to go through what this family experienced.

“Scared to death,” she said. “I don’t know, I’m at a loss for real because I never dreamed anything like that would happen over here.”

If you recognize the men or the vehicle involved, or if you have any information about the incident, you can call Dayton police at (937) 333-1232. Anonymous tips can be sent to Crime Stoppers by calling (937) 222-7867 or online at www.miamivalleycrimestoppers.com.
