New information after a mother is shown in a viral video hitting and screaming at a baby boy.

As reported on News Center 7 at 6, t he video showed up on social media Wednesday.

“Disturbing is the only word that probably is appropriate.” Chief Deputy Matt Haines said.

Within minutes people started calling the Montgomery County Sheriff’s Office.

“It was one of those things that literally went viral for all the wrong reasons. we started getting phone calls, from as far away that I know of from at least Texas,” Haines said.

A few hours later, they knew the mom in the video was 21-year-old Haley Ryan and arrested her.

Deputies said it was her months-old son in the crib – and the baby’s father taking the video.

While the father posted the video to social media Wednesday, sheriff’s deputies said it was recorded a few days earlier inside this apartment in Harrison Township.

Deputies said at first, there was a question of whether it happened in the city of Dayton.

Dayton officers were the ones who found Ryan at a home in the city Wednesday and detained for an interview with deputies.

News Center 7 went to that house Thursday, and Ryan’s mom said she disagreed with what her daughter did but said she is “not an evil person.”

Right now, Ryan is facing misdemeanor charges based on what happened in the video but deputies say more charges could come if they find the child was the victim of any other crimes.

they also want to interview the baby’s father.

“It’s still a very active and open investigation. we’re trying to decide if anybody else should face charges. and that would include if there is something that can be done when somebody either fails to intervene or fails to report,” Haines said.

Children’s Services has custody of the baby.

Ryan needs $50,000 to get out of jail, if she does, she will be on house arrest with a GPS ankle monitor.

We will continue to follow this story.
