Kyle Busch Says “Payback Is Coming” After Corey LaJoie Wrecked Him At Pocono

Safe to say Kyle's not ready to move on just yet. It's been a pretty miserable season for Kyle Busch this year, with 10 finishes outside the top 20 in 21 races so far in 2024. The driver of the #8 car for Richard Childress Racing and sitting 19th in the points standings, going into next 5 races in basically a must-win scenario if he wants to make the playoffs. Busch has been vocal about his frustration with his team's lack of performance, but he's also had some terrible luck too - and been the victim of mistakes by other drivers. At Nashville a couple of weeks ago, Busch was on his way to a top 5 finish when he was wrecked after Kyle Larson ran out of fuel on the restart. And then last week at Pocono, he was once again caught up in an incident not of his own making when Corey LaJoie wiped out Busch on a restart and ended his day. https://twitter.com/NASCARonTSN/status/1812596087921758421 LaJoie claimed that Busch tried to block him and wrecked himself, but the video seems to paint a different picture, though NASCAR ultimately decided not to fine LaJoie for intentionally wrecking Busch. Regardless, Kyle Busch wasn't buying LaJoie's explanation. During an appearance on the Pat McAfee Show today, Busch discussed the incident and said he didn't really have any interest in talking it out with LaJoie:
"He texted me and then he called me. I didn't even reach back out because he changed his story four times so I'm like, 'You're just a liar. You wrecked me. I get it, it's fine whatever." And Busch made it clear that this wasn't the end of the story: "Payback's coming." https://twitter.com/PatMcAfeeShow/status/1814337688864010287 Of course now that he said that, NASCAR is going to keep a close eye on the two drivers any time they're close to each other on the track, so it's probably smart for Kyle to wait a little while before paying anything back. But it's also not the first time that LaJoie and Busch have exchanged words, with Kyle having previously called LaJoie a "pain in the dick to race with" after a race at Talladega. Sounds like we might have a new rivalry going - although I'd say that if Kyle was going to have a new rival, he'd probably rather it be somebody who runs a little closer to the front of the field.
