Once again, Post Malone is bringing out the star-studded guests to join him on stage.

It’s F-1 Trillion release week, and while this week will not be solely dedicated to Post Malone, I have a feeling there will be a lot of news surrounding the rapper-turned-country star this week. Post Malone just performed over the weekend at Outside Lands Festival in San Francisco, which was the perfect reminder to fans that new music is coming soon.

Malone’s forthcoming album is set to feature a laundry list of features on the tracks, and keeping in theme with that, he has recently been inviting many friends on stage with him to sing. This trend continued at Outside Lands when Malone surprised the crowd by bringing out David Lee Murphy to cover his hit song “Dust On The Bottle.”

Although Malone is carving his own way in the genre with his new songs, given that he got his start playing country music and rock covers in a local restaurant, when he brings out guests like Murphy, it’s almost like we are seeing a little kid version of Malone. He is giddy to be sharing the stage and singing alongside artists who made music that more than likely influenced him as an artist.

As Malone walks over to welcome Murphy on stage, sparkles fire off, and the band starts up the 1994 hit. Malone speaks into the microphone:

    “I’ll take the first verse.”

He and Murphy jam out together before diving into the lyrics. Based on Malone’s statement before he begins to sing, this performance seemed very impromptu, but vocally, they both were ready to light the stage on fire. The energy both men brought to the stage is infectious, and watching the performance through your phone or computer screen makes you wish you were there to experience it live. They are both having a blast singing to each other and the crowd, not taking themselves too seriously.

Post Malone is giving so much love to ’90s country, and we can’t get enough of it. This comment perfectly notes this performance’s vibe in the best way possible.

“Posty’s drunk millennial 90’s country dive bar karaoke era is his best.”

While on stage at Outside Lands, he also gave a nod to one of the greatest country artists ever to do it, Toby Keith. Malone started tipping his hat to Keith after he passed earlier this year. Just like many other artists, they were taking time out of their show to sing a few of his greatest hits, but Malone has kept it going throughout all of his show.

Not only does it keep Toby Keith’s music and prideful spirit alive, but covering “Courtesy Of The Red, White And Blue (The Angry American)” is the perfect hype song to get the crowd singing along with him. Fire it up while you’re here.
