Dog Does Its Best To Chase Unbothered Black Bear Out Of Back Yard

Sometimes all you can do is try your best.

This good girl (that I believe is called Ember) was just trying to secure her home’s perimeter when a black bear plopped down in the yard. It’s instincts, as well as the instructions from the dog’s owner, were pointing towards the bear needing to get off the property and back into the woods.

You can hear the owner encouraging her dog to chase off the bear in the clip:

“Tell him to get out of here!”

That’s pretty bold, considering most people would just want their pet to get away from the apex predator. You never know what a bear is going to do, so it’s generally best to keep your distance – and that goes for pets too. However, that’s not what went down in this viral clip.

The dog kept running by the bear and barking after the wild animal walked out of the brush and into the yard. With the yappy dog running back and forth, the bear froze in its tracks and tried to get a better understanding of the situation. It doesn’t appear that it was really fazed by the dog’s defensive barking. Really, it just looked bothered more than anything else.

Eventually, and without any real counter to the dog’s barking and prancing, the bear turned around and headed back in the direction that it came from. Like I said, I don’t think the bear was concerned by any means, but rather was almost driven to insanity with all of the high-pitched barking.

As the bear retreated into the woods, and the dog proudly stood in the yard it had just defended, the pet owner shouted out another sentence that was both congratulatory and hilarious:

“Good girl! Yet she’s scared of our kitten.”

That sounds about right. Taking on a wild bear? No problem. But the house cat that rules the home? That’s a whole different beast. Still, it did enough to remove the bear from the premises, and that’s got to mean something, doesn’t it?
