    Stu is BACK.

This past weekend, Sturgill Simpson returned to the stage (well, at least in an official capacity) for the first time in nearly three years. Following the pandemic that shut down his A Good Look’n Tour with Tyler Childers in 2020, and then a vocal chord injury in 2021, it’s been tough to see the great Sturgill Simpson live since… hell, 2018? He played a a handful of shows in the fall of 2019, about 20 or so in early 202o until that tour got shut down, and then just a few more in 2021 before the vocal chord rupture. We’re talking less than 40 shows in nearly 6 years? It’s been tough, man…

Nevertheless, Sturgill Simpson has released a new album, Passage du Desir, his first under the Johnny Blue Skies moniker, and has tacked on a massive 2024 fall tour to go along with it. Dubbed the Why Not? Tour, the run kicked off this past weekend in San Francisco, and will continue through the fall, wrapping up in Boston in November.

And now, Stu is giving you a behind the scenes look at his Outside Lands Festival headlining performance, as well as a little warm up show that he and the boys performed at San Francisco’s Bimbo’s 365 Club the Friday before. Located just a few blocks from the iconic curves of Lombard Street, Bimbo’s is a Bay-area staple in the music scene.

If this isn’t your sign to get some Sturgill Simpson tickets ASAP, I don’t know what is…
