Young Moose Battles HARD To Escape Muddy Spring

This moose better be counting its blessings after this close call. It's not often that we see a video of a wild animal putting itself in peril. But thanks to this well-placed trail camera, we got this high-stakes video of a moose accidentally putting itself in quite the sticky situation - literally . This young moose was trying to wallow in this mud pit for relaxation, and instead got in an impromptu, try-not-to-die cardio session. Nothing gets the blood pumping and the heart racing like some quick-sand-like mud. Animals like the moose will often use mud from boggy springs like the one in this clip to protect themselves from bug bites. Coating themselves in mud can not only relieve existing bug bites - it can also help prevent future insect attacks. So this moose was just trying to take a quick dip in the spring, and almost figuratively and literally got way in over its head. It's clear that the moose underestimated the depth of the spring as it takes a small step to test the waters and falls right in. The wild animal probably wished that was the only surprise it had to deal with. However, it quickly becomes apparent that the moose is slowly-but-surely sinking into the mud, and just like how it goes down in the movies, the more the moose tried to get out, the more it sank down into the spring. The video is eventually fast forwarded, but the caption overlayed says that it took the sizable creature more than four consecutive minutes to finally break from the mud. You can tell that the poor thing is exhausted at the very end of the footage, and you have to think that if it weren't for the fallen log that was laying across the mud, this story might have ended in a much more somber tone. Thankfully, the moose's perseverance prevailed and it was able to free itself from the bog - but likely not before its life flashed before its eyes.
