Jason Eady is reimagining one of his hits. In 2023, the Jackson, Mississippi native, who has been residing in Texas for the last two decades, returned to his roots on his most recent album . The record appropriately named after the state that raised him highlighted his prolific songwriting. With inspiration coming from the traditional honky tonk scene along with artists like Don Williams and Willie Nelson, Eady infuses the essence of the outlaw movement with elements of blues and folk/bluegrass to create a silky smooth sound with meaningful lyrics that latch to listeners instantly. The single "Burn It Down" took off from this record and quickly became a fan favorite from his entire catalog. Given the overwhelming love for the track, Jason Eady decided to bless fans today, a year since the release of the record, a duet version of the track. Eady enlisted a powerhouse voice from the state next to
Mississippi, Alabama's best Taylor Hunnicutt . If you are not familiar with Taylor Hunnicutt and love a gritty honky tonk sound, she's your girl. Her music is rocking, and the rasp of her voice strikes deep. While that sound is her bread and butter, Hunnicutt also has a softer side of her vocal range that still has a powerful hold over listeners but is more delicate. "Tonight, Taylor Hunnicutt and I are bringing you a new version of “Burn it Down” from my 2023 album 'Mississippi.' Taylor is a badass powerhouse performer, and I’m so grateful she was willing to get into the studio with me to reimagine this track... Go turn it up!"

Muscadine Bloodline backs the girl, and she has toured with Silverada, Red Clay Strays, Whitey Morgan, and more, and that doesn't even count her headlining shows - she's a true road warrior. As an independent artist, she keeps her nose to the grindstone, which leads to features from well-respected artists like Eady. I love the original cut of "Burn It Down," but I love this duet even more. The original cut of the song featured female vocals in the harmonies, so the addition of a female verse makes sense with the existing sound. Hunnicutt comes in on the second verse and puts on the blues, singing about how she burns down all good things that come her way.
"I had a good man down in Mobile, Alabama He's sharp as a nail, had a body like a hammer I took off one day in the middle of the night I'm scared of a man trying to treat me right" Eady and Hunnicutt split the third verse, and the way their voices blend is unique yet captivating. While some harmonious parts are a perfect blend, they both keep their sound so you can hear two distinct parts that complement each other. This single is sultry, soulful, and has a killer groove to it. It's definitely worth a listen, and I will take a bet that "Burn It Down" will end up on a playlist, too. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UCefUeymtSU
