Zach Bryan is taking antoher one from The Great American Bar Scene to the stage for the first time. While ZB's catalog is quite extensive now that he has five albums, he is making sure to sprinkle in some of his new ones while keeping the tracks fans know and love. With his latest record being released a little over a month ago, fans at shows are still hearing ZB sing songs from that tracklist for the first time live, and Dallas was lucky enough to get "Like Ida" for the first time. I fell in love with "Like Ida" since Bryan released it as a
backyard jam session on his YouTube channel in April. It was dropped on the same day that "28" was first shared on YouTube. Fans latched on to one or the other, but both tracks were solid lyrically and sonically. In April, I reported on "Like Ida" right after it was shared and noted that, although the YouTube video was a raw cut, the track could be very powerful on a big stage. And I was not wrong. Like many of his other songs he performed live for the first time, ZB told the audience that he might have a bobble or two, but he was ready to debut this one on a stadium stage. Given Dallas is listed in the song's first lines, the Cowboys Stadium was the perfect place to play this one live. "When you wake in the mornin', and I'm not by your side
Just know that I'm halfway to Dallas I'm stoned out my mind, I'm half-buzzed..." The love song has captured the hearts of fans since it was released on The Great American Bar Scene, and fans have latched onto the clever lyrics. "Like Ida" is a perfect play on words as the heartbroken narrator hopes the person he still loves is treated well in the cruel world because no one knows them like "I do." "'Cause they'll eat and they'll spit you But you ain't their fool They don't know you like Ida" ZB blew this one out of the water, with the whole stadium yelling the lyrics alongside him. In addition to hearing "Like Ida" for the first time live, Dallas also heard "Spotless" with The Lumineers onstage. The incredible night was rounded out with fireworks shot off in the indoor stadium. Is that safe? I'm not sure, but nothing caught on fire—that we know of.
