Where does he think he is, a Spirit flight? Former NFL offensive tackle Gosder Cherilus was arrested early Sunday morning after allegedly urinating on a fellow passenger during a transatlantic Delta flight. According to MassLive
, the incident occurred during a flight from Boston to Dublin. The flight was delayed for around four hours, and once onboard, Cherilus reportedly got into an argument with his fellow passengers about seating arrangements, and was described by witnesses as "“disruptive, irritable, delirious and aggressive.” Then, about an hour after finally getting into the air, Cherilus allegedly stood up and walked to another seat, where he whipped it out and pissed on a 78-year old lady, "emptying his bladder for approximately 20 seconds." Stunned onlookers tried to stop him by grabbing his hands (which were, to be clear, still on his junk) and getting him back to his seat. But apparently Cherilus then woke up a 68-year old man and hit him in the face before others were eventually able to get him back into a seat, where he passed out for the rest of the flight. The flight returned to Logan Airport, where Massachusetts State Police boarded the flight and tried to arrest the former NFL'er, but he reportedly became "irate and uncooperative." Police say it eventually took four people and two sets of handcuffs to restrain the 6'6" and 280 lb. former football player. Cherilus was eventually charged with interfering with flight operation, disorderly conduct and resisting arrest. (I feel like "disorderly conduct" is putting it mildly when the dude straight up peed on a stranger). After the arrest, Cherilus issued a statement on his social media, blaming his behavior on sleeping medication:
"I'd like to address the media reports about me that surfaced today regarding a situation that occurred onboard a flight to Ireland this past weekend. The flight was unexpectedly delayed for approximately four hours, and it did not take off until after 12:30AM. In preparation for the unexpected overnight flight, I took a sleeping medication that I don't normally use, which resulted in behavior that is not representative of my character, and I would like to apologize to the passengers and flight crew." https://twitter.com/GosderCherilus/status/1825582002000613590 Cherilus played college football at Boston College before being drafted in the first round of the 2008 NFL Draft by the Detroit Lions. He spent 5 seasons with the Lions before signing a contract with the Indianapolis Colts that made him, at the time, the highest paid right tackle in the league. After being released by the Colts just two years into his 5-year contract, Cherilus signed with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, playing for two seasons before announcing his retirement from the NFL ahead of the 2017 season. During his career, Cherilus started 116 of the 132 games in which he played, recording 57 tackles and 2 fumble recovers. The former NFL player appeared in court this morning, entering a not-guilty plea and being released on a $2,500 bond - with the condition that he refrain from consuming drugs and alcohol. He's also not allowed back at Logan Airport. So much for flying the friendly skies.
