Evan Honer is in his collaboration era. The quickly rising star Evan Honer has been touring nonstop and, based on some recent teasers on Instagram, has found time to wiggle his way into the studio to cut some new material. Earlier this year, Honer released his latest record, Fighting For
, which showcased the blend of his folk/Americana with a tinge of indie sound. His sound can't be put in a box, which makes him a hit among country music fans and indie/alternative fans. At the end of July, Evan Honer posted a picture of him and Charles Wesley Godwin in the studio together , which perked up listeners' ears, hoping they'd get a duet soon. Even I must admit seeing this image got me going because their sounds would blend flawlessly together, making one believe they would cook up some heaters. While fans still hope an announcement is made soon about when that collaboration will be released, Honer surprised fans with another collaboration that they must listen to SOON. Today, the Arizona native announced he is teaming up with the queen of the corn, Hailey Whitters
. "'Fighting For' with Hailey Whitters out Aug 23rd! So stoked to have gotten to work with Hailey on this one and cannot wait for you guys to hear it!" Honer shared a snippet of the duet along with the announcement, which instantly took away my Monday blues. The heartbreaking lyrics describe a couple stuck in a rut. Neither party is honest with each other about how they feel or where their relationship is headed. The complacent relationship does not benefit either party, which begs the question of what they are even fighting for. "But when it's all over, dear I'll still be staring at the ceiling Too damn scared to share my feelings But that girl, she left me bleeding On the floor
And I ain't one to fuss; I just never know What I'm fighting for..." The lyrics take a new look at heartbreak, and I am sure many can relate to it. Being unable to have a relationship where you can be honest with each other is isolating and sometimes more lonely than being single. The snippet teasing the song highlights a beautiful and simple acoustic melody, letting the lyrics be the focal point of the single. Evan Honer and Hailey Whitters' voices sound stellar, and I can't wait to hear the rest of the story from this single. New Music Friday already looks like it will be a good one. https://www.instagram.com/p/C-3E3-8PKq3/ Take a listen to his solo version: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=iNXxJJoOjsU&pp=ygUYRXZhbiBob2luZXIgZmlnaHRpbmcgZm9y
