This deer had a guardian angel in the form of a man driving by in a car. Not the fanciest or most impressive of the guardian angels, but a lifesaver nonetheless. If it weren't for this man driving by at just the right time - and deciding to intervene - this deer would have been dead without a doubt. Instead, it was given a second chance because a "good Samaritan" (more like moron) opted to get involved. Now, when I say "get involved," it didn't take a whole lot for this man to put a stop to this attack. He saw a mountain lion trying to dig into a buck and figured the deer could use some backup. That help came in the form of some high-pitched words yelled at the big cat as he rolled his car window down and filmed the whole thing:
"Hey! Hey! Get off him!" I'm sure the cat understood exactly what you meant... That being said, the annoying series of "heys" that were shouted out were incredibly effective. One of the first ones made the mountain lion pause, the next one made the predator look back at where the sound was coming from, and the order of "Get off him!" seemed to do the trick. Once the big cat wasn't trying to puncture the neck of the deer and had retreated, the man in the car turned his attention to the deer that was still laying down on the ground. Again, the guy leaned on the hope that the animal would somehow understand the English language, and strangely enough, it worked out for him again. He shouted: "Can you get up? Go on! Go on deer... get up!" And guess what? The deer
got up and went on . Are we sure this wasn't Dr. Dolittle in the vehicle? He really had a way with words when it came to animals. Now, you can sit here and argue all you want about how this guy should have "let nature take its course." Generally speaking, the right course of action is to not stick your nose into the circle of life - both so you don't put yourself at risk and so things in nature can play out... naturally . However, I'd say this deer was forever grateful to have had its life saved by a passerby. Well, probably for a few minutes... until the car drove off and the danger kitty resumed hunting his wounded prey.
