I'm always here for a Charley Crockett cover. The Texas native has always done things his own way, mixing the stylings of country and blues to craft a very signature sound. And the man stays busy. Since 2015, Crockett has released twelve studio albums, with his most recent projects being $10 Cowboy
and $10 Cowboy Chapter II - Visions of Dallas . There's really no one like Charley Crockett in the music industry. He bet on himself when he self-released his debut album back in 2015, and through his hard work and persistent and consistent way of going about music, things have only gone up for him since then. Crockett is currently on his $10 Cowboy Tour , which still features plenty of stops through the end of the year. And though he's got plenty of exciting stuff going on in the modern day, I thought that for this story, we'd throw it back to around a year ago when Charley Crockett covered "All Along The Watchtower" for SiriusXM. It's one of those things where if you missed it... you shouldn't have
. Crockett's cover of the iconic song is stellar, and deserves to be revisited. The track is often associated with Jimi Hendrix, who undoubtedly pushed the song's popularity into the stratosphere when he included his rendition of it on The Jimi Hendrix Experience's third studio album Electric Landlady. However, the artist who actually penned the song and brought it to life was the great Bob Dylan. "All Along The Watchtower" was released by Dylan in 1967, and Hendrix's cover of it came just six months later. It's a soulful song that features a conversation between a joker and a thief. The back and forth nature of the song, paired with the natural blues rhythm the lyrics lay out, make it the perfect track for Charley Crockett to put his own personal touch on. And that he did with this simple-yet-powerful cover of "All Along The Watchtower." Check it out: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pXGxtfKDCYQ
