Lainey Wilson Teases Heartbreaking Song “Devil Don’t Go There,” From ‘Whirlwind’ Album Dropping Tomorrow

Some of Lainey Wilson's best writing yet. She's gearing up to release her new album Whirlwind tonight at midnight, and she's been sharing a few teasers on social media of songs we haven't heard yet. And honestly, I can already tell they're going to be some of my favorites. Yesterday, she shared a great, sassy tune called "Ring Finger," and today, she slowed it down a bit and shared a sad breakup tune called "Devil Don't Go There," which finds her reflecting on the unbearable pain of heartbreak. I love the creative imagery throughout the song, and especially the line about how her ex's words "burned like a Marlboro Red": "I'll never forget them words you said, Cause damn they burned like a Marlboro Red, I know the difference 'tween wrong and right, And boy that way you said goodbye, Even the devil don't go there, The way you did me that night, I bet the hell you put me through, Could make his angels cry, How'd you really leave me like that Are you really that cold, I'm betting even where he lives, He couldn't go that low Boy I swear, even the devil don't go there" Written by Lainey with Abram Dean, Lance Miller and Joe Fox, I love the unique concept and play on words, and the depth of the subject matter and getting a peak at the more somber, heavier part of who Lainey is as an artist.
