Ashland Craft is pouring out the "tequila in her coffee cup." Last year, Ashland Craft released an addicting single, "Night Owl, " highlighting her ability to work best in darkness. Creativity strikes her in the early morning hours when she can hear everything around her, and there is a calmness in the air.
“Sun’s going down, I’m just waking up Sipping on tequila from a coffee cup When the red light’s blinking It’s just the moon, my thinking and me Getting dressed up just to go nowhere Set my back porch bar and my smoking chair When I’m getting good and wide awake That’s when I like a dream.” However, Craft changes her tune on her latest single and transforms into someone who enjoys being up as the sun rises. https://www.instagram.com/p/C_BFxPvO89j/ Craft reflects on the single, noting that she sat on it for a while, waiting for the perfect time to finish it and wanting it to be more than just a follow-up to "Night Owl." “This song title sat in my phone for a hot minute, thinking I would just write a song about ‘not being a morning person’ (my Night Owls know what I’m saying) but thanks to my co-writers, Trannie Anderson, Faren Rachels and Dallas Wilson, it turned into something so much more meaningful than just that.
It’s not only the first ‘love song’ that I’ve ever released, but for me it’s representative of finding comfort and peace in life that you didn’t quite have before. This song marks a new day, and a sweeter outlook on life.” The heartfelt single vividly paints a picture of looking forward to waking up next to someone special and savoring the early morning moments with each other tangled up in bed. The love song shows an authentic side of falling for someone and is highly relatable to anyone in love. "I'd wanna be wide awake gettin' up with the sun To a pair of blue eyes, pair of boots on the floor Don't know how you went and made me into someone I was sure I was never gonna be before
Now I'm a tangled sheet, black coffee pourin' Wakin' up next to you every morning person." If you are a "Night Owl" fan, you will quickly fall for "Morning Person." Ashland Craft does not miss. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=r9bQIh2mH30
