Good news for the fans of "Casamigos." When Koe Wetzel released his latest project, 9 Lives , fans were up in arms that teased track "Casamigos" was removed from the final tracklist. When Wetzel announced the record, he also gave fans teasers of every track that was supposed to appear on the tracklist. Including "Casamigos." So when the final tracklist was revealed, and fans saw the heartbreak ballad was removed, they were confused and upset, given the teaser had them very excited to hear the track in full. Many social media posts surrounding the record's release were filled with comments from fans questioning the decision to pull the single. Well, we now have our answer. In Boston last night, Wetzel took to the stage and fired up the beloved fan favorite song; before performing the track, Wetzel gave fans an explanation as to why they ended up cutting the track from the record, and it's because they wanted to put it out as a stand-alone single.
"It didn't make the cut. We actually left this song off the record so we could put it out here in a couple of weeks. It was one of the first songs that we had written for the record, and going back on past relationships, it was somewhat of a hard song to write. But I'm glad I did. ... This song is called 'Casamigos.' You know, like that man who conquered Mexico. Same f**king guy, man." Wetzel told the crowd that this was their first time performing it live. However, a crowd in Iowa actually got to see it first on an earlier Damn Near Normal World Tour stop. Regardless, I am kicking my feet that we are getting this single sooner rather than later, and I hope a few weeks means a timeframe of  2-3 from now and not 4-6. Wetzel, naturally, knocked the performance out of the water (although he warned the audience he might "f**k it up"). You can feel the emotion from Wetzel as he sings the song of a failed relationship that ended up being better for him in the end to let go.
"Mary Jane took my license And Casamigos took my friend And you took your shit on down the road, the way you always do But of all the things I've lost, I'm alright losing you." I wish you could hear the audience from this clip because I am sure they are singing every word with him. Although it's not yet officially released, fans adore this track. I feel this will be a massive hit for Wetzel once it's released.
