Pat McAfee is perhaps the most man of the people personality in all of sports these days, especially at ESPN. Sharing the College GameDay desk with all the four-letter network mainstays and now GOATed coach Nick Saban , McAfee managed to spark a massive sing-along of "Take Me Home, Country Roads" by John Denver despite being in College Station, Texas, home of Texas A&M. https://twitter.com/PatMcAfeeShow/status/1829912011339415779 McAfee was the punter for West Virginia back in the day before embarking upon a successful NFL career with the Indianapolis Colts. Who would've thought a punter would go on to become one of the most successful, singular personal brands in all of sports? Not me! Anyway, McAfee naturally wasn't going to fade his beloved Mountaineers, despite them being seven-point home underdogs to eighth-ranked Penn State. As awesome and emotionally moving as Nittany Lions quarterback
Drew Allar's backstory is, his talent hasn't really matched his production. It doesn't shock me that between Penn State's often sputtering offense that lacks explosive passing plays and the electric atmosphere in Morgantown that West Virginia is being given considerable respect as only a seven-point underdog. So maybe McAfee's pick isn't as much of a homer prediction as you might expect on the surface. Pretty cool to see Johnny Manziel up there as the guest picker , too — even if the every-button-buttoned polo look isn't totally for me. Johnny Football can do whatever he wants. Probably never has to pay for anything when he's in College Station these days. Speaking of the Aggies, JFF and the rest of the set picked them to knock off Notre Dame. A clean sweep. Oh wait! Not so fast, my friend! Lee Corso came from the top rope to avoid the classic "graphic jinx" where analysts unanimously predict a team to win, rocking some Irish getup to pick the road team. https://twitter.com/gavinmchughh/status/1829914369544896610 I concur that it's amazing Corso can still get around, get fired up, and do stuff like this at 89 years young. Alrighty then. As Clint Eastwood often says on his movie sets after a take, "That's enough of that." What else can I do from here but play you out with one of the greatest crowd-pleasing songs of all-time? https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1vrEljMfXYo&pp=ygUadGFrZSBtZSBob21lIGNvdW50cnkgcm9hZHM%3D
