"August" coming to you at the very end of August. If you aren't familiar with Noeline Hofmann, you might find her name ringing a bell as she is featured on Zach Bryan's latest album . Hofmann wrote the track "Purple Gas." ZB endorsed her earlier this year , having her as a guest for his
Bucking Bronco Sessions , where she sang the single. While Bryan was kind enough to have the song as a duet on his record, pushing the young artist's name out to his expansive audience, I must admit I favor her solo single more. The Canadian native is similar to Colter Wall in that her lyrical material surrounds her lifestyle: working on the farm and being a cowgirl. When she is not on the stage, you can find Hofmann pulling cows and bailing hay, and this aspect of her life rings loud and clear in her newest single, "August." https://www.instagram.com/p/C-_lJZDvgmL/ Hofmann shared this track on her YouTube channel months ago. Through the lyrics, she reflects on the hard work everyone has done throughout the summer on the farm and how things will begin to slow in August as summer comes to an end. The lyrics are a farewell to the campfire nights under the stars when you are pushing cattle and a goodbye to the hardships faced while living on the land.
"Goodbye banjo moon, hiya buckskin Harvests starting, there’s fires in Montan-again Haze hangs heavy like a heartache Stinging in my eyes Prairie gold, hayfever, I’m grieving August..." The last lines of "I'm grieving August" note the perfect timing of Hofmann deciding to release this in the last days of the month. Hofmann's vocals are haunting yet captivating, and her word choice mimics cowboy sayings and phrases and makes listeners go back to decipher after the first listen. This one is hands down my favorite release from Noeline Hofmann thus far. Now's the time to plug into her music before she gets big. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HVUBq6YaD20
