Travis Kelce & Taylor Swift Singing Along To “I Believe In A Thing Called Love” At The US Open Is Peak American Romance

Peak romance. Did I stutter? I wish I had enough knowledge on the back catalogues of Taylor Swift and The Darkness alike to generate some superior inside-baseball references, but we'll have to settle for stating the facts here. The Darkness is a brilliant British band whose smash hit song "I Believe In A Thing Called Love" was an instant classic of cheesy throwback rock when it dropped in 2003. Those falsetto vocals by lead singer Justin Hawkins are to die for. Anyone in their 30s or thereabouts no doubt had their world rocked by this song at some point, and that was never more evident than when Taylor Swift herself, with Kansas City Chiefs tight end/arm candy Travis Kelce, rocked out to the number while taking in some U.S. Open tennis. https://twitter.com/usopen/status/1832908209838751747 You could argue The Darkness' signature tune is one of those awesomely bad songs that you cackle at while singing along to because of how ridiculous and over-the-top it is. That's precisely what makes it so brilliant, but furthermore, the band has legitimate musical talent that comes through on the catchy riff, the face-melting guitar solos, and of course Hawkins' powerful singing melody. Sorry, I know we're all about country music up in here, but we're also about — or I'm also about — elite sportsmen and Swifties because, well, so are a bazillion other folks on the Internet and in SOCIETY. We gotta acknowledge impeccable taste from uber-rich and famous celebrity power couples when we see it, do we not? Doesn't this make you feel ever so slightly better about yourself that you can relate with
Taylor and Travis on this level? It sure warms my heart. And that counts for a lot, at least for me, because my Cincinnati Bengals got taken out by the woodshed by a team who I thought had the literal worst roster in the NFL . I'm down bad this NFL Sunday. Stumbling, staggering, stammering through the depressive haze. How can you see Taylor and Travis in this state and not believe in a thing called love if you didn't already? The world sure could use more of that to go around, along with some optimism, humanity, and so forth OK let's not make this weird. I think I'm getting macro-contemplative because I'm trying to tell myself that my mental health shouldn't be dictated by the Bengals losing and so forth. NEEDLE DROP. I'm gonna be in my feelings all night, ripping this song on loop. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tKjZuykKY1I
