Taking responsibility for his part. In case you somehow missed it, star wide receiver for the Miami Dolphins Tyreek Hill was handcuffed and detained ahead of this past Sunday's season opener after being pulled over just outside of Hard Rock Stadium. According to the tickets that were issued, Hill was reportedly speeding at 60 mph and not wearing his seatbelt. https://twitter.com/JeffDarlington/status/1833583556708471122 Bodycam
video released this week shows the Hill handing the officer his license and rolling up his window, which set off the officer who then demanded that the wide receiver get out of the car. Officers then pulled Hill from the car and handcuffed him while he was on the ground, then stood up him and moved before another officer came up behind him and grabbed his neck to get him to sit down. Of course the bodycam footage didn't look great, and the Miami-Dade Police Department has already placed one officer on administrative duties as they conduct an internal investigation. But Hill also admits that he's not blameless in the encounter. Speaking with the media today, Hill admits that he wishes he had behaved better: "I could have been better. I could have let down my window in that instant."
But Hill says that he had rolled up his window to keep others from seeing him and taking pictures of the Dolphins star receiver pulled over on the side of the road: "I don't want attention. I don't want to be, cameras out, phones on you, in that moment. But at the end of the day, I'm human. I gotta follow rules, I gotta do what everyone else would do... Now, does that give them the right to literally beat the dog out of me? Absolutely not. But at the end of the day, I wish I could go back and do things a bit differently." Ironically enough, instead of keeping passersby from taking pictures, rolling his window up resulted in Tyreek having one of the most viral videos of the young NFL season. And the officer admitted on the bodycam video that he didn't even realize that it was Tyreek Hill, or that he played for the Dolphins. So it seems like cooler heads could have prevailed on both sides, and hopefully both sides will take accountability for that. https://twitter.com/AP_NFL/status/1833939709325988271
