When Tim Tebow played football at the college and professional level, he was viewed as a real-life superhero. But all of his accomplishments in the game of football pale in comparison to the hero-worthy work he's doing now in his post-sports career. For over a decade, the Tim Tebow Foundation has been relentlessly working in over a dozen different countries to put an end to child sex abuse and human trafficking. According to reports, the foundation that Tebow started has already rescued more than 2,000 victims in their 10-plus years of work. They've also helped locate and capture upwards of 500 traffickers. And this past week, the former football star went to Capitol Hill to join lawmakers in pushing for bipartisan support for what is being called the "Renewed Hope Act of 2024." As to what that bill aims to do - besides finding and protecting unidentified children that are trapped within sex trafficking rings - I'll let you read the explanation that Tebow himself gave in a recent post about the act:
"Today, I had the incredibly opportunity to join bipartisan leaders as we announced the 'Renewed Hope Act of 2024.' This bill will help build a stronger rescue team of analysts, investigators and law enforcement. Will you stand with us and raise your voice to urge your congressional representatives to support and co-sponsor this bill to protect children who are being sexually abused and exploited?" https://twitter.com/TimTebow/status/1833625979555655792?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw%7Ctwcamp%5Etweetembed%7Ctwterm%5E1833625979555655792%7Ctwgr%5Eadad422316a45dc72413415b244cd92c996b9609%7Ctwcon%5Es1_&ref_url=https%3A%2F%2Fwww2.cbn.com%2Fnews%2Fus%2Ftim-tebow-pushes-rescue-50000-kids-known-be-victims-sex-trafficking Pretty exemplary work from Tebow right there, and I'm not sure how a bill like this could struggle to get bipartisan support. Tebow is clearly impassioned by this work and this chance to make a difference in the lives of so many that are struggling. The former Heisman winner couldn't have put it into words any better than when he said this:
"We are willing to come together to put down our differences and to say that for every single one of those boys and girls, they're worth it. To do whatever it takes, however it takes, whatever we gotta do so that they can be protected, so that they can be loved, so that maybe they can experience the faith, hope and love they so desperately, desperately deserve, and desperately need. Because right now, while we're talking, they're crying." https://twitter.com/TimTebow/status/1834631385556070643 All of this good that Tim Tebow is doing through his foundation just goes to show how big of a purpose he has outside of the sport of football. And it reminds me of the interview where Johnny Manziel suggested that Tebow's NFL career didn't pan out solely because he had much bigger things to provide for society and the world at large. From the looks of it, Johnny was on to something:
