A huge fight between football fans at a postgame tailgate party led to a fatal shooting in Detroit after the Buccaneers won out over the Lions 20-16 at Ford Field on Sunday. Police chief James White explained that the bigger brawl broke up merely a few minutes before gunshots went off. Two of the quarreling fans returned to face each other, presumably in a fist fight, until one of the fans pulled a gun. They then shot the other person and hit somebody else. A man in his 40s died, and another 20-something male was rushed to the hospital in critical condition. This according to
a report by The Detroit News . https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Ase77qdgiFQ&t=36s&pp=ygUXbGlvbnMgdGFpbGdhdGUgc2hvb3Rpbmc%3D Few better ways to sum up this tragedy than these words from White: "Tailgating, drinking and guns don't mix...It's ridiculous. If you're going to fight, then fight. Everyone has to have a gun; it makes them feel tough. And now, we've got two people shot, and one dead, and another suspect who is going to face some serious charges, probably murder." It's difficult to articulate how senseless this or any civilian shooting is. What could possibly compel somebody to murder somebody in cold blood over something that was said at a freaking football postgame tailgating party? How can't you see the bigger picture, or have such unchecked rage or lack of control while inebriated, to do something so cruel? This comes right on the heels of San Francisco 49ers wide receiver
Ricky Pearsall getting shot through the chest by an armed robber who was just after his Rolex watch. Like what the hell is happening lately? Grasping at straws for any optimism right now. Even though only three people were directly involved in this shooting, think about the ripple effects for everyone in each of their lives. Let's pray that the second victim somehow pulls through.
