Gonna be spending some time behind bars? Well according to a new report, Morgan Wallen is apparently expecting to have to serve some time in jail on the felony charges he's currently facing after his chair-throwing arrest in April. Of course everybody remembers, but the country music superstar was arrested after (allegedly) throwing a chair off the rooftop of Eric Church's downtown Nashville bar, Chief's.
Wallen was charged with three counts of assault with a deadly weapon/reckless endangerment, with two counts for the two officers who were in the vicinity and one for the danger to the public. He was also charged with disorderly conduct, and ultimately released on a $12,500 bond. Since then, Morgan has continued on with his One Night At A Time
tour, with his next court appearance scheduled for December 12 after being postponed from last month. It seems unlikely that Morgan goes to trial in the case. But what kind of plea deal will prosecutors offer to the country star? Well according to one report, he's already expecting to have to spend some time behind bars. According to Life & Style Magazine , who cited an "inside source," attorneys for Morgan have been trying to negotiate a plea deal that would give the singer probation - but the source says that's not looking likely to happen: "It’s looking bleak at this point. He’s likely to spend time behind bars... I don’t think the prosecutors want him to skate away with no time because people will think it’s because of his celebrity status.”
As far as how much time, Morgan has reportedly been told that he could spend a month or two behind bars: “Morgan is being told the best scenario is a 30- to 60-day sentence.” Of course another issue might be whether prosecutors are willing to let Morgan plead guilty to reduced charges, or whether they insist that he cop to the felonies. Pleading guilty to a misdemeanor is obviously better than having a felony conviction on your record, and for Morgan it may be even more important: “If Morgan has a felony conviction, it’s going to make it hard for him to get work visas to tour internationally.” If attorneys are able to work out a deal by December, Morgan could plead guilty when he's in court at the end of this year. But if not, it's hard to tell how long it could be before the country singer knows his fate. And if he's going to have to serve time in jail, chances are he's going to want to do it while he's not on tour.
