Newsflash: there's a lot of money in OnlyFans. Well, the collective OnlyFans group. What's OnlyFans, you might be asking? (good cover if you happen to be reading this next to your significant other). It's a site that allows content creators to post specialized content behind a paywall and charge "fans" a subscription in order to access their photos and videos. Of course, it's primarily a vehicle for people to post explicit content, nudes or just steamy photos and get paid for without going down the traditional "pornstar" route. It's been no secret that some OnlyFans creators make a good living. However, this startling statistic really puts into perspective how much dough these OnlyFans models are rolling in. This might sound crazy, but in 2023, content producers on OnlyFans brought in a staggering $6.6 billion (with a b) in cold hard cash. Every NBA player's salary
combined only added up to $4.9 billion. For those not great at quick math, that's a difference of $1.7 billion buckaroos. And it technically means that the OnlyFans industry is larger - as far as salaries are concerned - than a global sports league. The money brought in by OnlyFans creators also outpaced the salaries paid to the entirety of the Premier League. https://twitter.com/unusual_whales/status/1836751344083882375?s=46&t=sK4ZxpXri80bfkXt_M8Cog Now to be transparent, the explanation of this might just come down to a numbers game. There are obviously more OnlyFans models than there are NBA players. It's estimated that over 2 million individuals put out content and charge subscriptions on the online site, whereas there are only about 600 players in the NBA. But its still crazy to think that there's that much money in a subscription service. There are people on OnlyFans that create content for a living, and they do
incredibly well (I'm told). Former Disney Star Bella Thorne is believed to make $11 million a month through OnlyFans. In comparison, the highest paid star in the NBA, Golden State Warriors guard Steph Curry, brings in $51 million a year - or $6 million per month if you break it up by the months that span the NBA regular season. So for some, there's more money in OnlyFans than playing professional sports in front of fans...
