Gavin Adcock is setting the record straight on what happened in Mississippi last night. Things got out of hand during Adcock's show at Oxford, Mississippi's The Lyric, and the show was ultimately shut down early, just a few songs into the set. While the Georgia native is known for having some rough and rowdy shows, it was not him or his fans causing the scene this time. It was the venue's security. Footage from the show took social media by storm this morning when a video went viral of a
security guard punching a fan in the face from over the guard rail. While the social media users who uploaded footage did not say what caused this incident, you can hear Adcock on stage talking about how the guard was rude to the fan before the punch landed. As soon as the guard punched the audience member, Adcock, rightfully angry, told the security guard to get out. “The security guards are out here trying to fight my fans, being a**holes. Oh! He just punched him in the face. The security guard just punched my fan in the face. Get the f**k out of here... There are little girls up here. The security guards are coming up here and punching the f**king fans. Get the f**k out of here. Nobody asked you to come up here… Two security guards hit my fans up here. They need to be fired and locked up in godd*mn jail.”

"Last night in Oxford, MS, a couple of my fans lit up a cigarette during the show. Out of respect for the venue, I requested they put them out. The security guards proceeded to assault my fans, rather than de-escalate the situation as they’re expected to do. I will always speak my mind on stage if I see something I don’t like, and I will always stand up for my fans. Y’all are the reason I do this every weekend, and we will continue to give y’all the best and safest experience possible." Adcock also responded to a Whiskey Riff social media post, noting his disappointment in the venue.
"This is what happens when a venue puts themselves and the security over the fans and band…. The Lyric needs to be shut down." In the footage he shared, his videographer captured the punch from an up close and personal angle, and it's just as gnarly as you'd expect. It is fair to admit that working security at a concert can come with challenges, but violence toward those in the crowd will never lead to a peaceful resolution. Adcock asked his fan to extinguish the cigarette in order to be respectful of the venue's space, and the venue's team did not have the same reaction. Shoutout to Gavin Adcock for speaking this mind and standing up for his fans. https://www.instagram.com/p/DAGq8loR8Tn/
