"Pinch me, am I dreaming?" This is what I am sure these two men thought to themselves when they stumbled upon this goldmine of a find. In 2019, two Arkansas men found their gold at the end of the rainbow: a fridge in a field fully stocked with beer. It seems too good to be true, right? Who is fortunate enough to stumble upon Busch and Bud Light? These two men and their findings prove that God has favorites. Arkansas experienced torrential flooding five years ago due to a
"bomb cyclone." The low-pressure storm led to blizzard-like conditions that caused record-breaking floods once the snow melted. The flooding lasted for months across the Missouri Valley and caused the dam between Nebraska and South Dakota to break. https://twitter.com/PeteRicketts/status/1106928100091351041?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw%7Ctwcamp%5Etweetembed%7Ctwterm%5E1106928100091351041%7Ctwgr%5Ec64c2ce897214cfc4e65e816120d77c7a4ee6452%7Ctwcon%5Es1_&ref_url=https%3A%2F%2Fweather.com%2Fsafety%2Fwinter%2Fnews%2F2020-03-13-bomb-cyclone-record-flooding-nebraska-spencer-dam-2019 The devastating flood affected over 7,000 homes and caused $10.8 billion in damages. It's one of the nation's most significant inland flood events on record. But amid the devastation caused by the flooding, there were also some light moments, especially this one. Kyle Simpson and Gayland Stouffer devoted a day to helping with storm cleanup, wading through high water for hours to remove debris and other damaged materials. In the midst of their cleanup, they found the perfect mid-day snack: a fridge stocked full of beer. In an interview with the
Lincoln Journal Star , Simpson recalled that Stouffer discovered the treasure. “(Stouffer) says, ‘Hey, this is a refrigerator.’ And he opens it up and says, ‘It’s full of beer.'" As the two men investigated, they opened the mini fridge to find it perfectly stocked with ice-cold Busch Light and Bud Light. "It was a gift sent from the heavens, and we were happy to see it. But we hoped the people who lost the fridge were OK, we hoped their property was OK." https://twitter.com/kare11/status/1108858366485585921 After the men cracked a few open, they shared their discovery on Facebook , where the fridge's owners later saw the post. The mini fridge and beer went on quite the journey, ending nearly four miles from their original home. The owners also noted that this is not the first natural disaster the fridge has survived, as in 2007, it was one of the only remaining items after a house fire. That's one rugged appliance. Who knows? Maybe the fridge was sent from the heavens to thank these men for helping their community recover from the devastating storm.
