An unwanted visitor in this Canadian man's garage caused quite the scare. And no, when I say "unwanted visitor," I'm not talking about the kind of neighbor who borrows your leaf blower and never gives it back. Though those people are the worst
, you'd much rather come face to face with them in your garage than you would a wild, bumbling bear. Try and put yourself in the shoes of this guy named Alex Gold. He was just turning the corner and walking into his garage - the most underrated and versatile room of any home - and all of the sudden was having a standoff with a 400-pound bruin. You've got to give him some credit too... he handled the scary situation like a pro. Once he realized the gravity of the situation he had just walked into, Gold went into defense mode as the bear ran right at him. The man's reaction served him well, because instead of running (which would have probably triggered the bear's chasing instinct), he stood tall and tried to make as much noise as he could. That's why you'll see him clapping and yelling at the bear that's just a few feet away from him. Gold knew that he wouldn't win a race against a bear of this size, but he might be able to win an intimidation battle. He clapped loudly and yelled, "Go!" as he backed away slowly. He then also had the bright idea to climb into his car, which was parked in the driveway just outside of the garage. Once he got inside the vehicle, the horn-honking technique worked like a charm. The loud noises scared the bear (and another that had just walked up) away from the home. It was a close call - much too close for comfort - but Gold handled it all really well, and luckily had security camera footage to prove it:
"I had an unexpected bear encounter yesterday. When I returned to the garage I bumped into the bear literally face to face. I've met bears before but never as close as it was this time. Unforgettable experience!" At the very end of the video you see a cub, which would explain the bear's aggressive behavior. https://www.instagram.com/reel/DAFxLwpRgNG/?igsh=cnVjbnJ1cjkzdnhj
