Morgan Wallen’s Parents Explain How They Knew He Had A Musical Gift From An Early Age: “He Came Out Almost Talking”

It seems as though Morgan Wallen was destined to be a star from the very moment he came into the world. That's at least how his parents - Lesli and Tommy - feel about Morgan, who is now one of the biggest country artists (if not the biggest ) on the planet. As they explained in this interview with WIVK 107.7, the Wallens knew they had something special in their hands very early on. Wallen was born and raised in Sneedville, Tennessee. His mother Lesli was a teacher, and his father Tommy was a pastor. Despite them having careers to worry about, and three other children, they made their best effort to invest in whatever their kids were interested in. It was clear from the jump that Morgan was interested in music, as his mother Lesli explained: "Well it wasn't hard to see that Morgan was going to be very musical. I mean... he came out almost talking. By the time he was 8 months old, he was talking. And then he moved into singing so early, and he would sing songs adult songs, and he was on key with them. So we knew that he had a musical ability. All of our children had a great musical ability. We looked for the things that our children were interested in, and then we tried to foster that within them." Talking at 8 months old and singing songs on key as a toddler are just a few of the impressive things that Morgan Wallen accomplished in his first few years. The radio host asked if there were any other "ah-ha" moments with Wallen as he grew up, and his mother said that there were almost too many to count. Though one thing that happened when he was a mere three years of age really stood out: "The moments were very early, when Morgan could sing songs. His first song that he sang in church was, 'Let Me Tell You About Jesus,' and he was three years old. And he could just belt that song out. How he sang as a very young child was just amazing. You would just sit back and go, 'Wow, this is different.'" And his father Tommy had to let the world know that he's somewhat responsible for Morgan's vocal abilities. When asked if he was the one who taught him everything he knew about singing, Tommy suggested that he did play a role: "He actually got it from me. If you hear me sing, you'll see I don't have any... he got mine and his." There you have it - a classic Dad Joke.
