It's been a long and winding road for Field & Stream over its 100+ year history. The first magazine was printed way back in 1895, originally named Northwestern Field & Stream: A Journal of the Rifle, Gun, Rod and Camera before being bought by John R. Burkhard and renamed Western Field & Stream, then simply Field & Stream. And over the years, the magazine covering hunting, fishing and conservation exploded to a circulation of nearly 2 million readers as it became a staple for outdoorsmen and nature lovers all across the country. Meanwhile, the longtime apparel brand was established in 1871 as Gordon & Ferguson Merchandising Company, and began selling clothing under the brand “Field and Stream” in 1915. But in 2012, the licensing rights to the brand were sold to Dick’s Sporting Goods, which eventually phased most of the Field & Stream brand into their own new concept, Public Lands, and closed most of the existing Field & Stream stores. And the magazine went out of print four years ago, bringing to an end over a century of publication. Until Eric Church & Morgan Wallen decided they wanted to bring it back. It was announced back in January that the brand had been acquired by a group led by Church and Wallen, which bought not only the retail side of the brand from Dick’s Sporting Goods but also the media platform, the first time in the brand's century-plus history that both the media and retail brands were under the same ownership. And one of their goals in buying the media platform was bringing back
Field & Stream Magazine. Speaking on his decision to revive the iconic brand, Chief says it was partly driven by his personal connection to Field & Stream - and he was adamant about bringing back the magazine, even if it wasn't the best business decision: "Field & Stream was an indelible part of my childhood. That was my Bible anytime we went fishing." Of course with names like Eric Church and Morgan Wallen involved, you just knew there would have to be music involved in the brand's renaissance. And that's where Field & Stream Music Fest comes in. The inaugural festival is scheduled for October 4-6 in Winnsboro, South Carolina, at Carolina Adventure World, which is a 3,000-acre adventure park located just off I-77 and a short drive from both Charlotte, NC and Columbia, SC. They've put together a
killer lineup of some of the best in country music across multiple stages. The festival features headliners Eric Church, Lynyrd Skynyrd and Lainey Wilson, along with ZZ Top, Riley Green, Shane Smith & the Saints, Larry Fleet, Boy Named Banjo and a ton more. But this isn't your average music festival. In celebrating not only the brand's roots but also their revival, the festival is also offering attendees plenty of opportunities to get out and enjoy nature, including
excursions like bass fishing, clay shooting, or even ATV adventures. They'll also have several themed villages , each offering their own unique experience centered around hunting, fishing, and even sports to catch a football game while you're taking a break from the music. All of this, plus the Field & Stream Expo that features interactive demonstrations and immersive experiences like archery or bass fishing with industry experts throughout the festival, will help festivalgoers make unforgettable memories at a one-of-a-kind festival while also celebrating the revival of a classic American brand. The festival has announced a lineup of all-star sponsors like Monster Energy, Avid Sports, National Wild Turkey Federation (NWTF), Orion, Gunner Kennels, Moultrie, Ducks Unlimited, Silencer Central, Country Outdoors, Hobie Eyewear, Yuengling, Abu Garcia, and more, which will no doubt present a ton of opportunities for fans to engage with some of the biggest brands in food and beverage, as well as the outdoors. From hunters and fishermen to folks who are just interested in the music, the festival has done a great job of planning something for everyone - and giving folks plenty of opportunities to try something new that you can't experience at any other festival. You can learn more and get your tickets at Field & Stream Music Fest's
website . There you'll also find information on everything from the onsite parking and shuttles to offsite camping options, and of course have the opportunity to book your excursions before they sell out, and plan for your time at the festival. It's going to be a truly special event, a fitting celebration for the rebirth of such an iconic American brand. And it's one that you're not going to want to miss. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gLwR3rAIZcE
