Had to do a double-take. Post Malone is currently one of the biggest names in music. With his massive country crossover success, his existing pop fans are converting to country fans, and country fans respect how slowly and intentionally he made his crossover into the genre. If there is one thing Post Malone has proven to fans, it's that he respects the names that helped define the genre. From Hank Williams Jr. to Dolly Parton, he enlisted an all-star cast as features on his record F-1 Trillion . One artist, however, was more than surprised to learn that Post Malone was not only a fan of his but also wanted to perform with him. Yesterday, on the Big D & Bubba
radio show, Joe Nichols chatted with the host about how incredible it was to perform with Post. When Post's team reached out, it was shocking for Nichols to learn that Post Malone was a fan of his and even more of a surprise Post wanted to share the stage with him. "I was in my hotel room, ironing my clothes, and they called and said, 'A weird thing happened. Post Malone's trying to get ahold of you. He wants you to do a show with him.' I'm like, 'I don't know if you're talking to the right guy. I don't know if it's me you're supposed to be calling today.' I couldn't do that, but he kept pursuing. His people kept reaching out like, 'We really want to do a show. Post is a really big fan.' And I was like, eh, sometimes those things are forced. You know?"
Nichols and Post's team finally found a date that worked, and Nichols agreed to the performance. When he met Posty for the first time backstage before singing in front of the Nashville crowd, he was blown away to learn Post's request to sing with him was beyond genuine. "Then I met him for his album release party, and that dude's a real fan. Huge fan. It's really crazy; a huge star like him was really excited for a guy like me to be on stage with him. And I started signing 'Brokenheartsville,' and you would have thought I started singing something really classic." After their performance, Nichols had nothing but kind words to say about Post and how he went about his crossover into country music. "That's another thing I'm impressed with him by is his knowledge of the history of country music. His appreciation for the old stuff..." While Post might have an appreciation for old classics, he told Nichols he believes "Brokenheartsville" is one of the best country songs ever written. Once again, Nichols was shocked and honored: "From a guy like him, that's probably seen a lot of music, that's high praise." What a compliment. This interview with Joe Nichols again shows that the overwhelming majority of artists in the industry have nothing but nice things to say about Posty
. Anyone can make good music, but when they release heaters combined with being a good person, you want to support them even more. I hope that we get a collaboration from these two in the future . https://www.instagram.com/p/DAYlveXxx92/
