Gone but never forgotten. There are few names in country music that really command the respect that comes with the name "Kris Kristofferson." Talented in more ways than one, a man of conviction, integrity, and honor... they just don't make 'em like Kris anymore. Hell, they never really did make 'em like that... he's one of one. Yes, the country music world certainly lost a legendary icon this weekend as Kris passed away peacefully at his home in Hawaii at the age of 88 years old. A talented singer, songwriter and actor, among many other things like Golden Gloves boxer, Rhodes Scholar and Army helicopter pilot, Kris stayed pretty busy, actively touring up until COVID started. A lot of publications list his final concert as his Outlaw Country Cruise performance in January of 2020, but he later performed a show after that in February of 2020 in Fort Pierce, Florida. However, his final performance came at Willie Nelson's 90th Birthday Celebration, April of 2023, at the Hollywood Bowl in Los Angeles. A number of great entertainers were on hand to ring in Willie's 90th birthday with a 2-day concert event, and Kris stepped to the mic alongside Rosanne Cash for a performance of "Loving Her Was Easier (Than Anything I'll Ever Do Again)." Originally written and recorded by Kris for his 1971
The Silver Tongued Devil & I record, the song was also recorded by Roger Miller, Tompall Glaser, Mark Chesnutt, Waylon Jennings, Willie Nelson, Billy Ray Cyrus and more. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bw94RzY1Y7g The following night, he joined Nora Jones for his classic, "Help Me Make It Through The Night." https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=U2VaRhS8vo4&pp=ygUtd2lsbGllIG5lbHNvbiBrcmlzIGtyaXN0b2ZmZXJzb24gaGVscCBtZSBtYWtl Kris also joined all the performers for "Will The Circle Be Unbroken" and "Happy Birthday" to close out the epic party. It would be the last time the legendary Kris Kristofferson would ever step foot on stage to perform. RIP legend. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gVthiLM64jo&pp=ygUzd2lsbGllIG5lbHNvbiAgd2lsbCB0aGUgY2lyY2xlIGJlIHVuYnJva2VuIGJpcnRoZGF5

Odd, but I always had the impression he was going to be around longer than the others in the crowd. I thought he was younger than Waylan and Willie, etc. You will be missed Kris.

That perfomance, and the pairing of Willy and his son were two of the greatest highlights.
