All the good vibes in the world out to John Daly, his family, and really anyone impacted by the devastation of Hurricane Helene. The two-time major golf champion happened to be among the many victims whose homes were wiped out when the ferocious storm touched down on Florida's Gulf Coast. As reported by Sports Illustrated , Daly posted on Facebook to confirm he and his loved ones were safe in the aftermath, although his Clearwater Beach home... not so much: "For everyone that has reached out, my family are all safe, but all our homes are not as water is pouring out of every crevice...Total loss and devastation after living here all my life! I still cannot imagine ALL we have lost, but we are SAFE and all can be replaced! Praise God!"
Daly seems to be in as good of spirits as he can be considering how tough that situation must be. He was in attendance for Alabama's thrilling win over Georgia this past weekend in Tuscaloosa alongside Donald Trump and several other celebrities. Knowing how charitable Daly tends to be, I'm sure he'll do a lot to help out communities impacted by the storm. The hurricane hit land at around 11 p.m. local time on Thursday night. Winds reached as high as 140 mph, so any residences in Helene's path were basically doomed from the outset. Hurricane season is always a scary time, and you never know what to expect, especially given that Florida's weather pivots from sunshine to driving rainstorms on a dime with regularity. Other states have been devastated by Hurricane Helene as well. I've seen quite a lot of damage in Asheville, North Carolina, and there are more areas where that came from. Let's pray for everyone and hope those responding to the scenes to provide rescue and relief stay safe out there, too. Not much else to say except that the inevitability of Mother Nature can be really cruel sometimes.
