A convoy of hope, indeed. It's been incredible to see the NASCAR community step up in the wake of Hurricane Helene, where we've seen owners Joe Gibbs and Rick Hendrick using their private helicopters and planes to assist in recovery efforts however they can, as well as driver Greg Biffle do an amazing amount for his state. Of course, much of the southeast is facing unimaginable devastation in the wake of the devastating hurricane, which left communities across North Carolina, South Carolina, Georgia, Florida and Tennessee completely wiped out and hundreds still missing even three days later. So far, over 200 people have been confirmed dead, though that number is sure to rise as emergency crews are able to make their way in to assess the tragic situation. The pictures that are coming out are absolutely unthinkable. It’s just heartbreaking to think about those who are suffering so much right now – and even those families still waiting to hear from their loved ones who are without power, cell phones and basic supplies in the midst of the tragedy. And today, a massive convoy of haulers and other trucks from Charlotte Motor Speedway, which has been collecting donations for several days now, headed to North Wilkesboro Speedway right up the road to drop off an incredible amount of supplies. NWS is a sort of hub for that type of thing right now, since they are in the foothills and just about a 30 minute drive up the mountain to Boone. It's hard to explain in words how much they sent up, you have to see the pictures and videos for yourself. It's overwhelming in the best way:
SO many private citizens and businesses have stepped up in an incredible way to help their neighbors in need, and it has been truly astonishing to witness how many people have reached out during this dire time for the amazing people in western North Carolina. A HUGE thank you to everyone who was offered anything to our beautiful Appalachian mountains, whether it was a prayer, donation, or anything else. It’s going to be a long road to recovery, and we need all the help we can get. It means more to the people up there than you can possibly imagine, and we are all
    so incredibly grateful for it.
