Connecticut Woman Gets Emotional On Radio Show Over Vanderbilt Upsetting Alabama: “Sorry For Crying On The Air… There’s Women Out Here That Love SEC Football”

Vanderbilt's massive, historic upset over Alabama will be one that college football fans won't soon forget. It was such a big, unexpected upset that Vanderbilt faithful stormed the field, tore down the goalpost, and walked it some three miles from their stadium to the Cumberland River - which means they carried it right through all of the Honky Tonks and bachelorette parties of Broadway. The videos from the epic night, where the formerly lowly SEC school scored their school's first win over a number one team, are iconic: https://twitter.com/CFBONFOX/status/1842755469435384175 You've got to love sports. And you've also got to tip your cap to Vanderbilt for figuring out a creative way to pay their SEC fine . Anytime an SEC school's fanbase storms the field following a conference victory, they are forced to pay a $100,000 fine to the opposing team (so Vandy has to pay Alabama $100K). So to help cover the costs, Vandy is cutting up pieces of the torn down goal post and selling them. $1,005 for 4-inch pieces, $4,035 for 8-inch pieces. Not only has the Vandy-over-Bama win stimulated the Commodore economy, it's also brought college football fans to tears. Sure, some of the Crimson Tide fans probably cried while softly brushing their framed Nick Saban picture (he wouldn't have let this happen) after they lost, but that's not what I'm talking about. Instead, I'm shining a light on Paula from Connecticut who called into the
SEC This Morning on the SEC Network earlier today to talk about the game. Is she a Bama fan? Nope. How about a Vandy fan? Not that either. She's just a woman who lives in the Northeast and apparently loves SEC football. Paula called in to the show, and even though she doesn't have any real ties to Vanderbilt, she got emotional talking about their big win over Alabama: "The Vandy game was great. I watched them play Mizzou, they should have won that game, but I said to myself, 'Don't hang your heads Vandy. You've got something to mold and it's still gelling.' I have no NFL channel, no ESPN, but I get the SEC channel. I'm 59-years-old up here in Connecticut. I hate UCONN. I'm a Syracuse fan because I'm from the Northeast, but SEC rocks. Vandy... I was jumping up and down in my living room. I'm still in tears over this game. I can't believe it. It's great and I love the SEC. Sorry for crying on the air, but there's women out here that love college football."
