A new music video for his first song in nine years. Last month, Dwight Yoakam released his first song in nearly a decade. He teamed up with the F-1 Trillion sensation Post Malone for his triumphant return. The two teamed up for a steel-soaked honky tonk heater called “I Don’t Know How To Say Goodbye (Bang Bang Boom Boom).” The single is the lead song off Yoakam's forthcoming album Brighter Days, slated for a November 15th . https://www.instagram.com/p/C_1S_L-xm64/ The record will feature 12 brand-new songs and three covers: “Keeping On The Sunny Side” by the Carter Family, “Bound Away” by Cake, and “Time Between” by The Byrds. With his track with Post Malone serving as a teaser for the album, it appears it will retain the Dwight Yoakam sound that fans know, love, and have missed throughout his hiatus from making new music. Today, Yoakam and Malone released a video for “I Don’t Know How To Say Goodbye (Bang Bang Boom Boom)," bringing the upbeat western swing tune to life. A few months back, fans saw Malone and Yoakam riding down Sunset Blvd. on horses, wondering what they had up their sleeve, and the video revealed that they were working on this. https://www.instagram.com/reel/C_f0e6fAjBY/ Featuring appearances from Nina Dobrev, Malin Akerman, the cheeky video follows Yoakam and Malone's love life and their inability to let the women they love go. Both women try to get away from them, but the men have a way of popping up at every place they try to escape. As the women get in their cars to leave town, Malone and Yoakam try to swoon them one last time, stopping traffic while on horseback. However, the vehicles can get around their final efforts to win them back, and the two men are left riding off into the darkness together. The lighthearted video matches the song's upbeat tempo, perfectly showcasing the lyrics. Between the acting scenes, the men are gaming in a studio to listen to the music. This portion of the video shows their personalities and their friendship. I also love seeing Malone showcased with Yoakam's band in the music video, making this a full-circle moment. During the pandemic, Malone teamed up with his band, laying down the famed covers of
"You Can Have The Crown" and "I'm Gonna Miss Her." I bet these two had a horrible time together making this song and video... (wink, wink). https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LLTgTMTpZwk
