A great show for a great cause. Today, 49 Winchester announced a special benefit concert to support Hurricane Helene relief efforts in East Tennessee, Western North Carolina, and Southwest Virginia. The concert is slated for Saturday, November 30th at the ETSU Martin Center in Johnson City, Tennessee. Tickets are on sale now, will range from $30 to $40, and all proceeds from ticket sales will go directly to Second Harvest Food Bank of Northeast Tennessee. Of course, the band comes from the heart of Appalachia in Castlewood, Virginia, and has built an audience throughout the region touring for years and building a fan base the hard way. Chase Chafin, bassist and founding member of the band, says it's a way for them to support the people back home who have supported them for so many years:
"49 Winchester is very proud to be from this region and looking after each other is a huge part of the ethos of Appalachia. We are very grateful for the support of our audience and all the folks back at home who have cheered us on for years. When something tragic happens, it affects all of us. We are doing this show at the end of the touring season in hopes of raising funds in support of the recovery efforts for our neighbors in Western North Carolina." It truly encapsulates the spirit of Appalachia, and is just another amazing example of country artists stepping up to help their people in a time of great need. Luke Combs and Eric Church recently announced one as well. Jennifer Clements, Executive Director of the ETSU Martin Center, echoed Chase's sentiment in that they want to support their neighbors however they can:
"This concert embodies the spirit of Appalachia, where we come together to support one another in times of need. It’s more than just music; it’s a chance for our community to unite and help our neighbors after the devastation of Hurricane Helene. By partnering with 49 Winchester and Second Harvest Food Bank, we’re creating an event that brings our community together in solidarity and support." 49 Winchester most recently released their album Leavin’ This Holler in August, and tickets for this show are on sale now. https://www.instagram.com/p/DA_JvNcuy2y/
